Valorisation of the sludge resulting from anaerobic digestion

Sludge management (in particular nitrogen) is often problematic at the end of the anaerobic digestion process. To allow you to respect the standards of rejection, we develop specific technologies of sludge post-treatments. The sludge post-treatment resulting from anaerobic digestion can include several stages: maturation, separation of phase, dehydration, crystallization, stripping and purification.
  • Maturation

The maturation of sludge consists in storing it during 6 to 8 months at the end of the digestion process. This makes it possible to recover residual biogas. This post-storage allows sludge usage as fertilizer.

  • Liquid/solid separation

A separator (screw press, centrifugal machine) makes it possible to recover a solid phase (25 to 30% of sicity) of the sludge and a liquid phase, rich in nutrients (nitrogen, phosphorous) which it is possible to use as fertilizers

  • Aerobe treatment

At the end of the anaerobic digestion treatment, there can remain a weak concentration of organic load in the sludge. We can then treat this organic load by aerobic biological way. This process can guarantee a rejection within the urban network or in the natural environment.
