The maturation of sludge
consists in storing it during 6 to 8 months at the end of the digestion
process. This makes it possible to recover residual biogas. This
post-storage allows sludge usage as fertilizer.
A separator (screw press, centrifugal machine) makes it possible to
recover a solid phase (25 to 30% of sicity) of the sludge and a liquid
phase, rich in nutrients (nitrogen, phosphorous) which it is possible
to use as fertilizers
At the end of the anaerobic digestion treatment, there can
remain a weak concentration of organic load in the sludge. We can then
treat this organic load by aerobic biological way. This process can
guarantee a rejection within the urban network or in the natural
environment.
